“Be master of your petty annoyances and conserve your energies for the big, worthwhile things. It isn’t the mountain ahead that wears you out - it’s the grain of sand in your shoe.” Robert Service (1874 - 1958)
Petty is as petty does. Pretty is a better alternative.
Mr. Service says that the trivial and the petty are the enemy of the pretty. Focusing on who doesn’t like us or whether we can afford to buy a new trifle at the mall, is a waste of precious time. This behavior is petty and sets up feelings of worthlessness and limits.
